An iconoclastic trio that originates in the light beams of 16 mm and video projectors, Zzurfreiheit strives to make you travel through time and space thanks to the unsuspected virtues of acoustic and luminous feedback. By developing a poetics of the instant and immediacy these 3 energetic generate conflicts of perceptions with severe contemplative consequences for your brain. The visual raw material – points, lines, landscapes and plants – created on 16 mm film by Julien Bibard, is reinterpreted in feedback by Lionel Palun‘s digital video and audio processing. The sounds of the mechanics and electrical windings of the 16 mm projector are used as raw materials for Jean-Philippe Saulou’s delicate and impulsive manipulations. In the end, this hypnotic and autophagous journey, in a landscape with rather vague spatio-temporal coordinates, will perhaps make you forget, for those who still doubt it, that cinema only takes place on a screen.
